Map the source and output audio channels to create a high-quality audio experience that fully captures the richness and depth of the original cut put audio in both channel

Audio channel mapping allows you to route individual audio channels from a clip to specific tracks on the timeline. This can be useful for multi-channel audio clips recorded with, for example, a surround sound microphone or a multi-track audio recorder.

When you import a clip with multiple audio channels, Premiere Pro automatically creates a sequence with the correct number of audio tracks for all channels. By default, each audio channel in the clip is assigned to the audio track in the cut put audio in both channel

However, you can change the audio channel mapping. You can do this when you import, or by right-clicking the audio in the project panel and choosing Modify > Audio cut put audio in both channel

Assign source audio channels on import

You can control how Premiere Pro automatically assigns clip audio channels to the audio tracks and mix tracks when importing or recording.

Select Settings > Timeline.

The image shows the Timeline Settings dialog box, which specifies the section where you can select the format of your media.
Select the format of your media in the Timeline Settings dialog box.
In the Default Audio Track section, select a format and click OK.

Change the source audio channel assignment
In the Project panel, select one or more clips with audio and choose Clip > Modify > Audio Channels.

Note: If you select more than one audio clip, make sure the track format is the same for all selected clips. If your workflow depends on changing the source clips with Adjust Audio Channels, don’t use proxies in Premiere Pro. This leads to unexpected behavior.
Assign the audio output channels of a stereo track
Assign the audio output channels of a stereo track
The Audio Channels dialog displays a matrix with the clip channels on the left and the source channels on top. To assign a clip channel to a source channel, select the appropriate cell in the matrix. A tick marks that the clip channel is assigned to this source channel.

To preview the audio in a channel, select the source channel, click the Play button, or use the slider.

Select OK.

Note! You cannot change the audio channels of a merged clip.

They should be mono by default. However, you can still rearrange and enable/disable all available audio channels for the component clips.
Assign the audio channels to the hardware channels of the audio output device in order
For each channel in a sequence mix track, you can specify the channel in a hardware audio target device. Assign channels in the Audio Output Assignment section of the Preferences dialog. Premiere Pro plays each sequence channel over the hardware channel you specify.

For example, your project may have a 5.1-channel setup, but your system hardware may only support two channels. You can specify which of the two hardware channels transmits each of the six sequence channels.

However, 16-channel sequences remain assigned to 16 output channels if the selected hardware device has fewer than 16 channels.

For example, the selected device may only have two channels. You can then assign only the first two channels of a 16-channel array to the two hardware channels.

Note: The Audio Output Mapping section allows you to assign sequencer channels to any supported hardware device installed on your computer, not just the one currently enabled. However, you only see and hear the channel mapping you set for a device when the device is activated. Assigning audio channels to the device does not activate the device. To enable an audio hardware device, select it in the audio hardware settings. For more information, see Setting ASIO device settings (Windows only).
To map range channels for a hardware device, first select the device from the Map Output For menu. The list under the Map Output menu shows the hardware channels supported by the selected device. You then assign sequence channels to each hardware channel using channel tiles.

For example, if you select a 16-channel third-party audio device, 16 hardware channels will appear in the list. When you select a stereo device, only two hardware channels appear in the list. The tiles to the right of each channel name in the list represent the three types of sequencer channels you can assign to that hardware channel: stereo, 5.1, and 16-channel.

Two-channel mono audio means that we record two or more different audio sources, usually spoken by humans, each on its channel in one audio clip. There is no necessary connection between the content of the two or more audio sources.

Audio clips are not limited to just two channels

. You can easily accommodate 8 or more. Both Premiere and Final Cut support at least 32 audio channels per clip. If we use external audio recording devices, the number of channels supported in a clip can exceed 100. In other words, we can record and save many audio sources in a single clip, each on its channel.

NOTE: A stereo clip records the same track in a single audio clip, so audio coming from the left is saved in the left channel, and audio coming from the right is saved in the right channel. The content of the two channels is related and we generally keep stereo audio channels.

The reason we use two-channel mono clips is that we want to easily maintain a synchronous relationship between all of these channels while having the ability to adjust volume, pan, and effects for each channel individually.

When we add a two-channel mono clip to the Final Cut timeline, you won’t initially be able to see how many tracks it contains. They are all mixed into a single waveform and output as a stereo mix.

To view individual channels of a clip on the timeline, select the clip and choose Clip > Expand Audio Components. This allows you to tune each channel individually and set levels for each channel.

NOTE: If individual channels are not listed here, you must tell Final Cut that this is a two-channel mono cut. For more information, see the “Changing the audio format of a clip” section.

To make a channel inaudible, select it and type V (type V again to make it audible).

Although you can adjust the volume of a single clip in the timeline with the volume rubber band in the clip, if you want to adjust the volume of multiple timeline clips at once, you can use the Audio Inspector.

On the timeline, select the clips you want to adjust and then adjust the volume slider in the Audio Inspector. This will change the level of all selected clips by the same amount.

By default, each monoclip is rotated to the center. So if you want to move a channel’s audio more to the left or right, you’ll also need to use the Audio Inspector.

When pan mode is set to None, mono clips are panned in the center, while stereo clips are panned so that channel 1 is panned to the left and channel 2 is panned to the right.

To adjust the panorama, change the mode to Stereo left/right.

This will display a slider that allows you to change the pan of any selected channel or clip. -100 sets the pan to the left, while 100 sets the pan all the way to the right. 0 centers it.

Audio enhancements allow you to adjust the frequencies in the clip to increase bass or treble, improve volume, remove background noise, or remove hum. I don’t use these because almost all my projects require a separate audio mixer. I like the hum remover though.

NOTE: If you plan to create a separate audio mix, do not add audio enhancements in Final Cut. It is better to solve problems during audio mixing.

To activate an effect, review it and then adjust it. As a general rule, if it sounds good to you, the effect is fine as long as sound levels stay below 0 dB during playback.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Never allow sound levels to exceed 0 dB during export. This will cause irreparable audio distortion. Make sure you play back your project before exporting it and make sure your audio levels are safe.

Audio configuration allows you to preview, preview, enable and disable the audio channels in a clip. provided sound foaming is enabled.

To enable audio skimming, click this icon. (See screenshot above.) This is at the bottom of the display, just below the timecode display. When audio skimming is enabled, you can listen to the content of an individual channel by skimming it in the Audio Inspector.

Mute a channel by disabling it. This will also hide its appearance in the timeline.
